Our largest meeting room is the 2,000 sq. foot Octagon Hall. It has been used for prayer and meditation retreats, dances, coffeehouses, and lectures. It is also commonly a classroom for the multi-day and multi-week courses we host. The vaulted ceiling allows for plenty of room when needed for any form of dance, exercise, yoga, or martial arts retreats. Tables and chairs are available when needed, together with backjacks and cushions for those preferring to remain at floor level. Ceiling fans cool during summer, and heat is provided as needed by woodstove and passive solar architecture.
We offer a variety of free extras, including hi-speed wireless Internet access for laptops and handheld devices available almost anywhere at Sirius. For those needing Internet access lacking computers, the community provides one next to the Octagon Hall. For nominal fees, we also can provide various audio-visual equipment – computer and overhead projectors, TV with DVD/VCR playback, and a sound system for music or speaking.
OVERNIGHT GUEST QUARTERS
Our guest spaces are mostly shared rooms, with two or three beds each. We also have three single spaces with queen-size beds. Most rooms are housed in the Community Center, but we have several in other nearby buildings as needed. Restrooms & facilities are shared but ample. Organic vegetarian meals are included as part of the overnight package, and are taken in the Community Center dining room below the Octagon Hall. Between-meal snacks are also provided for conference guests and during other events.
ORGANIC MEAL PLAN
Our guest meals are made from organic vegetarian ingredients, many of which are grown right here in our gardens, orchards, nut trees, and greenhouse. Salads are commonly picked within an hour or two of serving. Many non-vegetarian guests have told us they had no idea vegetarian fare could be so satisfying. We have indoor and outdoor seating, plus tables in the greenhouse, which can be toasty warm on the coldest days just from the sun. Everyone pitches in during cleanup, so our guests get a chance to meet and chat with our members and neighbors who participate in community meals.
