Everything you need to know about being a guest at Sirius.

We’re so glad you’ll be visiting Sirius!

Each year, hundreds of guests come to Sirius to tour the ecovillage, relax on a retreat, or participate in hosted educational programs.

Guest accommodations, program meeting spaces, and community kitchen/dining room are housed in one central building, the Sirius Community Center. In the tradition of retreat-style housing, our accommodations are simple, without the distractions of televisions and telephones, though we provide free WiFi for those bringing their own devices. We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to focus on your personal growth in a truly unique community learning environment.

Many non-vegetarian guests have told us they had no idea vegetarian fare could be so satisfying. We have indoor and outdoor seating, plus tables in the greenhouse, which can be toasty warm on the coldest days just from the sun. Everyone pitches in during cleanup, so our guests get a chance to meet and chat with our members and neighbors who participate in community meals.

Do you have a special diet? Let us know ahead of time so we can be sure to accommodate your needs.

For the benefit of all our members and guests, we ask visitors to observe the following protocols:

  • We wish to maintain a cigarette smoke-free environment.
  • Please bring no alcohol or drugs.
  • Sirius is not equipped to handle pet housing.
  • Please refrain from using scented products like perfumes, colognes, hair products, etc.
  • Please use no candles or incense in guest rooms. Candles may be used in meeting rooms as long as they are placed in fireproof receptacles designed for that purpose and are extinguished when the room is unoccupied, such as during meals or breaks.

Here is the list of items you can bring that will make your stay at Sirius more comfortable.

Note: Bedding and towels can be provided for each guest. However, if you have the ability and interest to help us achieve our goals of reducing energy consumption you are welcome to bring your own bedding and towels for a reduced rate.

  • Comfortable clothing for movement and relaxation
  • Toiletries
  • Flashlight for getting around forested paths at night (especially for those camping). We have extras, if needed.
  • Insect repellent (Picaridin based recommended, or DEET)
  • Water bottle, sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen
  • Walking/hiking shoes for outdoors and hiking trails
  • Sneakers for fitness activities.
  • Winter: snowshoes.
  • Summer: bathing suit for lakefront beach.

Because of our location in the beautiful forests of the Pioneer Valley, cellphone service can be, in certain places, quite spotty. In general, Verizon service is more widely available on the property than AT&T. For calls that need to be made, we have landlines available or guests can use wifi-calling through their personal devices on our free wifi.
